On Independence Day Pakistan’s first locally produced electric car unveiled

 Pakistan's first domestically produced electric car - the Nur-E 75 - designed and developed by a non-profit organization, the Dice Foundation, together with local academics and industrialists, has been launched. eyes at a ceremony in Karachi on Sunday. 


The five-seater sedan has a top speed of 127 km/h and will be introduced to the market by the end of 2024, according to an announcement published by the Dice Foundation. 

According to the report, the car takes 8 hours to fully charge, after which it can travel 210 km. Founder and president of 

Dice Foundation, Dr. Khurshid Qureshi, calls the vehicle a "game changer for both the Pakistani economy and for the welfare of ordinary people". 

The car will play a "phenomenal" role in the fight against climate change and help preserve the environment by taking the country away from consuming non-renewable fuels. 

Dr. Qureshi said that while the current prototype is a five-seater sedan, the fund also has plans to develop a sedan and a small SUV. 

When asked about the car's price, Dr. Qureshi said cars in the same segment as Honda-E and Nissan Leaf cost $40,000 and $35,000 respectively, "but the price of Nur-E 75  will be much lower". 

He also shared that 60% of auto parts will be produced domestically when it is introduced by the end of 2024, but the percentage will increase to 80 in the following years, as reported by Business. Recorder. 

He thanked NED College of Engineering and Technology, DHA Suffa University, National College of Arts, Punjab Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority, National University of Science and Technology, College of Engineering Art and Technology Sir Syed, Amreli Steels, PSG and Kruddson Aluminum for helping achieve the 'milestone'.
